The actress has made a comeback of sorts to films with Shiv Shastri Balboa
Nargis Fakhri, who has been receiving love from the audience for her role in Shiv Shastri Balboa, says that for the longest time, she was offered roles that required her to just be a 'pretty face' onscreen. As the content of Indian films has evolved, the actress hopes l to get offered roles with meat.
Asked about the evolving content of Hindi cinema in recent times when compared to 2011, when she started out with Rockstar, Nargis told OTTplay, "Yes, I think it is more interesting now because the audience has evolved. Now, the demand for original content is more and that is why we get to watch so many well-written stories, in which every character is given good attention. I like that. Earlier, I used to get a lot of offers for films in which I just had to be a pretty face. I used to turn them down. But now, interesting things are coming my way."
In her latest film Shiv Shastri Balboa, Nargis is paired with another talented actor, Sharib Hashmi. Since the actress started her journey as a model and is not a trained actor, we asked her about her process of improving her acting skill. "I am someone who learns in the process. I dissect and work on a character when I get a script. I have never been to an acting class, since I am someone who prefers one-on-one sessions with an acting coach. When I am not working on a project, I am working on my body, my body language, Hindi, etc. But you see, every character is different and every director has a different vision. Also, I believe that learning acting is a constant and life-long process," shared Nargis.
Shiv Shastri Balboa also stars Neena Gupta, Anupam Kher and Jugal Hansraj, and is currently running in theatres.
