As actress Nikita Dutta is playing the leading lady in the upcoming web series Khakee: The Bihar Chapter, she shares how the whole journey of playing such a strong character has given her a perspective on how hard the life of the wife of a police officer could be.
In the show, Nikita is narrating the character of Tanu, the wife of an IPS officer Amit Lodha, played by Karan Tacker, who is on a mission to eradicate the criminal activities of the deadly criminal in Bihar.
In conversation with OTTplay, the actress opened up.
Nikita told OTTplay, "While it is tough to be a police officer that Amit Lodha is in our show, it is equally tough to be the life partner of a police officer. The fact is, whether you are the wife of an Indian army or police, the posting of an officer could happen anywhere in the country and not always in big cities but even in remote areas. In this case, Amit is posted in Bihar and dealing with the highest crime cases over there. Their lives are at risk every single day...going through the journey of my character, I realised how tough and why one feels so anxious in such situations."
The actress also added, " My character Tanu also had her dreams and ambitions but giving up everything and choosing to be with her partner and living in a small place in Bihar takes a different kind of courage. In today's time, if anyone asks me personally to leave Mumbai and shift to a small town I would think so many times, honestly. I salute the courage of all the women whose husbands are serving our nation and their courage to give up on everything else, just to be with their life partners."
In the show, Amit is playing a police officer who is constantly struggling to track down and arrest the deadly criminal Chandan Mahto and his gang who have killed several people and set their criminal records without having any sense of guilt; rather they take pride in such human massacres.
Nikita decoding one of the nature of her on-screen character Tanu, shared, "You see there's a lot of stress Amit Lodha is going through and not everything he can discuss with his wife Tanu. There is a point in the series where the viewers might just be thinking why she is not aggressively reacting, but the fact is she is quiet at times only because she understands what Amit is going through. The emotional ups and downs of the character are fascinating."
Apart from Nikita and Karan, the show is also featuring - Jatin Sarna, Ashutosh Rana, Aisharwa Sushmita, Shraddha Das, Vinay Pathak, Ashutosh Rana, Anup Soni among others.
Directed by Bhauv Dhulia, and produced by Neeraj Pandey, the web series is all set to release on Netflix on November 25.
