Exclusive! Paoli, Tanya Maniktala, Rahul Bagga, Vardhan Puri in Sanjoy Nag’s next

National Award-winning filmmaker Sanjoy Nag is known to be a selective filmmaker. He chooses his subject carefully and crafts it with time. After working with author Annie Zaidi’s Yours Truly, the filmmaker has yet again adopted another work, Gulab, from the writer. His eponymous film features Paoli, Tanya Maniktala of A Suitable Boy-fame, Rahul Bagga of Ludo-fame, Vardhan Puri, who is Amrish Puri’s grandson, and several others. 

Produced by EndemolShine India and Ten Years Younger Productions, the film was shot in Palampur, Himachal in May-June this year. As per sources, the post-production of the film is on. 

The film delves into the life of a young couple. On their anniversary celebration, a text SMS changes the life of the male protagonist. While the film has a flavour of a paranormal thriller, the story is said to be more nuanced than just a thriller. The music is composed by Debojyoti Mishra and Shankar Mahadevan has sung the songs. 

Sanjoy Nag forayed into filmmaking in 2011 with Memories in March which features Rituparno Ghosh, Deepti Naval, and Raima Sen. The film bagged the Best Feature Film in English Award at the 58th National Film Awards. His 2018 film Yours Truly features Soni Razdan, Pankaj Tripathi, Aahana Kumra, and Mahesh Bhatt. The film garnered appreciation at several festivals, including the Kolkata International Film Festival in 2018.
