Prasun Chatterjee’s Dostojee is all set to have a global release. On March 17, the film will release in 75 Cities in 26 States across the US. California-based film distribution company Bisckope Films LLC has acquired the theatrical distribution rights of the film for North America (USA and Canada). By this Oscars Qualifying Theatrical Release, Dostojee will be eligible for consideration in the General/ Main Category of the 96th Academy Awards 2024.

Bisckope Films LLC will campaign the film to the Academy Award Members and they will take the film to the AFM (American Film Market) in Los Angeles for the Oscars’ Campaign. The film will have a gala Premier in Manhattan, New York, and the distributor will organise special screenings for the American Press, before the theatrical release on March 17.

Meanwhile, the young director is on cloud nine. Talking to us, Prasun said, “I am very happy. This is more than what I expected from Distojee. It was released here and did well at the box office. Now a whole new journey is about to take place. It is huge. I think if this global market gets opened for us it will be good news for the Bengali film industry. At the same time, we will also make films of global standard. I am looking forward to it.”

On the same day, March 17, Dostojee will be released in theaters in 17 cities in Canada, 10 cities in Australia, New Zealand, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and Ajman in UAE.

After travelling to 26 countries in 32 international festivals and winning eight international laurels, Dostojee was released in theaters in India on November 11, 2022. It had a successful run of 12 weeks in theatres.
