Director Venu’s multi-starrer Kaapa, which has Prithviraj Sukumaran, Manju Warrier, Asif Ali and Anna Ben in the lead, is set to go on floors only next year, OTTplay has exclusively learnt. The movie, which is a FEFKA writers’ union initiative, is based on GR Indugopan’s story named Shankumukhi.
The makers had announced the film through the social media pages of Mohanlal and Mammootty in August this year. The movie, which revolves around the Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention)Act, has Prithviraj playing the role of a local gangster.
Jinu Abraham, who is one of its co-producers, tells us that Prithviraj will begin shooting for the film in April 2022. The actor is currently busy with Shaji Kailas’ ‘mass’ action-entertainer Kaduva, which is also scripted by Jinu. “After Kaduva, he will resume Aadujeevitham and will only join the sets of Kaapa by April-May next year,” the scriptwriter tells us. Kaapa has Sanu John Varghese as its cinematographer, Mahesh Narayanan as its editor and Justin Varghese as the music composer.
Apart from Kaapa, Prithviraj is also part of Vilayath Buddha, which is also co-scripted by Indugopan and is based on the latter’s novel. The film, which will be directed by Jayan Nambiar, will have Prithviraj playing the role of a sandalwood smuggler. The movie is expected to go on floors by February next year.
Prithviraj, who has completed the shoot of Alphonse Puthren’s Gold, is also part of Dijo Jose Antony’s Jana Gana Mana and Ratheesh Ambat’s Theerpu, which reportedly is aiming at an OTT release.
