Exclusive! Priyanka Chopra would cut down on her own lines in Mary Kom for me: Darshan Kumaar

Actor Darshan Kumaar made his debut in Bollywood with Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ Mary Kom. He played the role of her husband in the film and soon, Darshan became a known name. He worked with the likes of Anushka Sharma and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. While working on Mary Kom, Darshan recalls, Priyanka did not behave like a star at all. She in fact cut down on her lines and gave it to someone else for Omung Kumar’s project.

“She believed in the bigger picture,” Darshan told OTTplay. “She never behaved like a superstar. She's very down-to-earth,” he added.

Darshan recalled rehearsing one scene 10 times with her. The actor said that he is yet to see somebody who cuts their own line to give it to someone else but Priyanka did exactly that. “She ensured that if a dialogue doesn't fit one character, then the other gets it. This is very rare,” the actor told us.

He cited the example and said that she is someone who focuses on the overall project. Darshan commended the actress and said it is why she is in Hollywood today.

The actor, last seen in The Kashmir Files and now Aashram 3, also sang praises for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. He said that she would never leave the sets and was very professional. “It was summers in Mumbai but since the scene demanded winter season, she put on a blanket,” he recalled.

Darshan, who spoke to us about Aashram 3, called the starcast his family and said that they are on a video call every second day. The latest episode has also introduced Esha Gupta to the family started by Prakash Jha.

Aashram season 3 released on MX Player on June 3. The filmmaker announced the fourth season of the show and has promised to release it in 2023.
