At the peak of her career, Meera Jasmine was not just popular in Malayalam but also in other South film industries. A year after her acting debut, she had starred alongside R Madhavan in the hit Tamil film Run and the duo also shared screen space in 2004 in Mani Ratnam’s Yuva. Now, reports have surfaced that the two actors are set to reunite for a big project.
In an exclusive interview with OTTplay, Meera revealed the truth about her casting in a film with Madhavan, who is awaiting the release of Rocketry: The Nambi Effect. The actress told us that though there were talks about the movie, she hasn’t signed any project yet.
“As of now, I have not officially signed any project. Because I am making my comeback with Makal in Malayalam, there has been attention and I have been offered roles in big projects. I have also been part of discussions for some of these. But officially I haven’t signed the dotted line for any of these projects yet including Madhavan’s project,” she says, adding that her next signing will be announced officially by the makers of the film.
The actress also informed us that she doesn’t have any set plans on what types of roles to pick after her comeback. “I will be choosing non-stereotypical characters that excite me as an artiste,” she says.
Meera, meanwhile, is chuffed about her latest venture Makal, which is helmed by Sathyan Anthikad and has Jayaram playing the male protagonist. The film has her essaying the role of Juliet, a mother of a teenager played by Devika Sanjay.
“In Sathyan sir’s films, his characters are very relatable. When I did Achuvinte Amma, Rasathanthram and Vinodayathra, I got to play my age back then and with Makal, I got to do that again,” said the National Award-winning actress.
