Exclusive! Rahul Madhav confirms Jeethu Joseph, Mohanlal’s mystery thriller will be a Vishu release on OTT

The release date of Mohanlal and Jeethu Joseph’s upcoming 12th Man has been long-speculated. While Mohanlal himself had told us that the movie will be an OTT release, the movie’s cast member Rahul Madhav has confirmed the film’s rumoured streaming platform and release date.

In an exclusive interview with OTTplay, the actor tells us that the Drishyam director’s 12th Man will be a Vishu release on Disney+ Hotstar. The film, which will release on the streaming giant on April 14, has an ensemble cast featuring Mohanlal, Saiju Kurup, Unni Mukundan, Rahul, Sshivada, G Chandunath, Leona Lishoy, Anu Mohan, Priyanka Nair, Aditi Ravi, Anu Sithara and Anusree.

“It’s a mystery thriller that makes for a great movie to watch on an OTT platform. There are a lot of actors including Lal sir,” says Rahul. “Even though I have worked with Lal sir earlier in Munthirivalikal Thalirkumbol and Fraud, both of them had me in minor roles. In 12th Man, I got to share substantial time with him on screen as well as off it.”

Rahul, meanwhile, is also part of two big theatrical releases – Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Kaduva and Suresh Gopi’s Paappan. While it’s the first time he had worked with filmmaker Shaji Kailas, he is collaborating with Joshiy after playing an antagonist in the director’s Porinju Mariyam Jose.

“In Paappan, mine is more of a guest appearance,” says the 100 Days of Love actor. “But I am glad that Joshiy sir called me for the role. I believe the movie has come out really well.” Paappan, which also has Nyla Usha, Gokul Suresh, Neeta Pillai and Kaniha, is set to hit theatres on April 28.

“I would have watched all three of these movies in theatres even if I wasn’t part of the cast. So, I am truly thrilled to be part of these films,” says Rahul, who also has Sreenath Siva’s Section 306 IPC coming up.
