The trailer of Saumya Sengupta’s Mritypathojatri was released on Friday. The film that delves into the life of a man on death row features Rahul in the lead. Meanwhile, The actor is busy shooting a Zee Bangla daily Lalkuthi with Rooqma Roy. He will also be seen in Srijit Mukherji’s Feludar Goyendagiri on Hoichoi soon. The actor is known for his experimental works in films and OTT, including Kaali on ZEE5, and Paap on Hoichoi.

While talking to OTTplay exclusively, Rahul said, “Mritypathojatri shows the last 12 hours of a convict sentenced to death. I play the convict and I can assure you that I have not played anything like this ever. It is an experimental film. The last hours, when the convict is kept in a condemned cell, are elaborated. It is a slow burner. My character starts drawing on the prison walls and the director shows the entire painting, from beginning to end, without fast-forwarding it. It was not an easy job for me. It was psychologically taxing.”

According to the director, this is a unique experimental film. “There is no other movie that can be compared with Mrityupathojatri. Each scene in this film will highlight the psychological transformation of the convict along with his guilt, inexhaustible attraction to life and the extreme fear of death, within the four walls of a darkened condemned cell. In my opinion, this is Rahul's best performance ever,” Saumya said. The director has dedicated his film to the famous Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami.

The movie will be released in cinemas on June 10. The film is produced by Kan Singh Sodha, who seemed to be very excited about the project. “This film will be a milestone in all the movies I have produced so far,” the actor told us.

Within a week of the release of Mritypathojatri, Srijit Mukherji’s much-awaited Feluda series will drop in Hoichoi. The first season is based on Darjeeling Jomjomat. Tota Roy Chowdhury, Anirban Chakrabarty and Kalpan Mitra play Satyajit Ray’s iconic characters Feluda, Lalmohan Ganguly and Topshe. Meanwhile, he paired up with Rooqma Ray for ZEE Bangla’s new mega-serial Lalkuthi, which is also streamed on ZEE5.
