Actress Priya Banerjee has a pivotal role in the Rana Daggubati and Venkatesh Daggubati starrer series Rana Naidu. Post its release, she spoke to OTTplay about her struggle in the industry and how she is walking her path with a firm belief to achieve her dream.
Priya said, "I am hopefully on the right path to get my due as an actor, but I think I am underutilised as an actor, and I want to do much bigger things in life. I think this feeling is common in many budding actors. I am trying to give my 100 percent in everything that I do. I knew that my journey in the industry would be slow, since I don't come from a film family and have no godfather to push or guide towards bigger opportunities."
She further added, "Everything that I have done, I have done with the help of my instinct. I read a script and agree to the project if I like it. When a show does well, I get another project, so it is a slow journey. If I was someone with a backing in the industry, I would have got my due quicker. But it doesn't matter to me, because eventually, I will get there. I do believe that."
In Rana Naidu, Priya plays Mandira, who is a Bollywood celebrity. Her character has an interesting graph: transforming from a child actor to being a top actor. She shares a unique relationship with Rana in the series.
Priya has acted in South Indian films like Kiss, Joru, Asura, Chithiram Pesuthadi 2, and web series like 8 Hours, 11 Hour. She made her debut in Hindi cinema with the film Jazbaa.
When asked about her upcoming projects, Priya said, "For the last two years, I have been shooting for different projects, and one by one they are releasing. After Rana Naidu, an announcement about my next projects will hopefully come soon."
Rana Naidu is the Indian adaptation of the American series Ray Donovan, and is created by Karan Anshuman. The series also stars Suchitra Pillai, Gaurav Chopra, and Surveen Chawla. It is streaming on Netflix.
