Ritabhari Chakraborty and Abir Chatterjee’s upcoming film Fatafati has a release date. The film will be released on May 12. Directed by Aritra Mukherjee, the film deals with the idea of body positivity. Swastika Dutta will also be seen in a pivotal role in the film.

Ritabhari went through a huge physical change for the film. She gained weight as she plays a character who promoted fashion for plus-size women. Talking to us exclusively, she said, “I am very excited about the film. I think on a physical level, it is the most extreme I went to for my character. I have never gone this far with my body before. Earlier, I prepped a lot for a film. For Brahma Janen Gopon Kommoti, I learnt to be a priest and for Sesh Theke Shuru, I learnt a Bangladeshi accent. I don’t think I took a toll on my body for a character. This is for a great cause that is universal and extremely relatable. I really think this film should open the conversation. I’m glad I am working with the same team as Brahma Janen. When you get along with a bunch of creative people and make something that is universally relatable, it feels great. It gives a sense of achievement when you do something meaningful and artistic together.”

Meanwhile, she launched this year’s calendar on February 3. “This is the fifth year I am doing the calendar with a beauty brand. This year we shot the calender in Phuket. The launch evening was special as I wanted to do it in an intimate space so that I could spend my time with people I care about and I am fond of. I know them for years. So the event was not just a professional launch but also to spend time with people I love,” she said.
