Exclusive! Saswata Chatterjee to make a comeback as a cop in Joydeep Mukherjee’s web series

Saswata Chatterjee collaborated with Joydeep Mukherjee recently in the latter’s Hoichoi web series, Advocate Achinta Aich. the shooting of the show was completed and the postproduction work is in full swing. According to sources, the duo will pair up again. This time, they will be working on a web series for Fridaay – an upcoming OTT platform of Camellia Productions.

Saswata Chatterjee to play a character of an SDPO

As per sources close to the team, the stories of the yet-untitled show are drawn from real-life crimes that took place around the smaller town in Bengal. The events are inspired by the cases of police files. Samir Sengupta has been working on the script. Saswata will be seen as an SDPO (Sub-Divisional Police Officer) of an area in Bengal. Billed as a thriller, it will also depict human stories. If all goes well, the show will go on the floors in May or June. Saswata plays a key character in the upcoming Hindi film, The Crewm which also features Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kriti Sanon. "He has some commitments in Hindi and other industries. Once he takes care of those, the shooting schedule will be finalised," said sources.

Recently, Saswata Chatterjee made a stunning comeback as a cop in Raj Chakraborty’s debut web series, Abar Proloy. His character and performance were hugely lauded by the viewers and critics alike. Besides, In Arindam Sil’s Shabor franchise, he plays Kolkata Police cop, Shabor Dasgupta.

Joydeep Mukherjee preppong for The Eken 

On the other hand, Joydeep has no time to respite. Soon after Advocate Achinta Aich, will start working on this project and his upcoming Eken Babu film. OTT play has reported that this time, the Eken Babu film will be shot abroad, in Russia. On the other hand, the film will give its traditional release time, Poila Boishakh, a miss. If all goes well, Team Eken will travel to Russia by June.

OTT platform Fridaay will be dropped this year. However, there has been no announcement on its time of release. A number of series, including Arindal Sil’s Unishey April, which is reportedly based on the mysterious death of Surupa Guha, are in a queue.
