This is the season of weddings in the Bengali film industry. After Parambrata Chatterjee tied the knot last month, it is time for Sandipta Sen to get married to her boyfriend Soumya Mukherjee. Now, Darshana Banik and Saurav Das are also all set to tie the knot on December 15. OTTplay gives you the lowdown on Darshana and Saurav’s plans and preparations.

According to sources, Darshana will be on a Banarasi spree almost throughout her wedding days. She will be seen in a tussar Banarasi during the ritual of Adhubash, a yellow Banarasi during gaaye-holud, and a fuschia pink Banarasi on the day of the reception. However, the special of all is the red Banarasi that is custom-made for her wedding day. “The bride wanted to make the wedding a very gorgeous one. She is a fan of Banarasi sari and wants to wear as many Banarasi as possible. Her wedding Banarasi sari is red. It is a traditional weave with gold-plated pure silver zari work. It is a curated piece that took more than five to six months to make,” said the source.

Darshana has planned to team up her saris with fabulous gold jewellery. “She is a sari-jewellery person. She has planned to wear a lot of jewellery pieces. She has a lot of gold pieces from heirlooms. She will wear her mother’s gold. Besides, both her grandmothers left her gold hair accessories that she will wear,” sources said. Makeup artist Babusona will dress her up and Ginni will do her hair. Kiara Sen has prepared her blouses.   

Meanwhile, Saurav will wear a kantha-stitch tussar dhoti and a kurta with jamdani and kantha work. “Their wedding will take place at 9 pm and he will wear the kurta dhoti throughout,” said the source. His attire is sourced from Parama Ghosh.

On the other hand, the menu is an elaborate one with prawn malaikari, bhetki, chicken, and mutton. Their reception will take place on December 17. That will be a closed-door event with only family members and friends.
