Exclusive! Shane Nigam’s character in Bermuda wasn’t easy but he performed it with consistency: TK Rajeev Kumar

Director TK Rajeev Kumar is gearing up for the release of his film Bermuda. The acclaimed filmmaker, who has collaborated with the likes of Mohanlal and Kamal Haasan in his stellar career, worked with Shane Nigam for the first time in the film and has already picked him as one of his favourite actors.

Shane said in an earlier interview with us that collaborating with veteran filmmakers such as Rajeev Kumar and Shaji N Karun helps him grow as a performer. Now, Rajeev Kumar, in an exclusive chat with OTTplay, rates Shane highly as an actor.

“He is a very professional and matured actor, from my experience,” says the director “His character in Bermuda is not something that an actor could perform that easily. It’s a role that demands consistency from start to finish. The biggest quality that I found in Shane was that once you narrate the script to him, he takes the effort to evolve and get into the skin of the character.”

The filmmaker also explained that apart from Shane’s inherent talents, the actor also puts in the effort to understand what’s required by a filmmaker. “Apart from being a spontaneous actor, he is someone who can grow and evolve as the character progresses through the screenplay. Such actors will always be a director’s favourite because a character’s growth in the film can only be shown if the actors themselves understand those nuances. A filmmaker can guide them, but they must contribute to the process and show the progression. As an actor, Shane is now one of my favourite actors,” he says.

Shane, meanwhile, has been taking up a variety of roles lately. His latest release Ullasam had him try his hand at comedy. He recently completed shooting for Syam Sasi’s thriller, which has him essaying the role of a civil police officer.
