You’d never guess the show that the Kannada star Shivarajkumar saw before he began to watch a lot more foreign language content on OTT during the pandemic
Century Star Shivarajkumar is a movie buff. The actor has often been quoted as saying that he watches films across languages, be it Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam or Hindi, preferably in the first week itself. His movie watching, though, was limited to Indian content, until the pandemic that is. During the lockdown, when everyone was stuck at home with nothing to do, Shivarajkumar was introduced to OTT content from across the world by his daughters.
“Earlier, I never used to watch a lot of English movies – that was always selective. But during the lockdown, I began watching a lot more content on OTT. I was introduced to web series, which I found very interesting and quite different. In fact, the very first web series that I saw was absolutely beautiful’ it was all about family and relationships and touched my heart. It’s called This is Us, which ended last year after six seasons. The show is about the members of the Pearson family – Jack and Rebecca and their three kids. It was heartwarming and reminded me of my family and took me on a nostalgia trip of beautiful memories,” Shivarajkumar told OTTplay. Once he began watching content from across the world, there’s been no stopping him, says the actor, adding that he’s been enjoying a lot of Korean films as well.
Meanwhile, Shivarajkumar’s last release, Ghost, which came to theatres on October 19 for Dasara, is headed to OTT soon. An action heist thriller directed by MG Srinivas, Ghost had been picked up by Zee Network for the satellite and digital rights, with the Zee5 Kannada premiere slated for November 17. In Kannada, the actor is currently juggling work on two films – Arjun Janya’s directorial debut 45, which also stars Upendra and Raj B Shetty and Narthan’s Mufti prequel, Bhairathi Ranagal. The latter is a home production for Shivarajkumar.
