Exclusive! Shriya Pilgaonkar on playing a sex worker in Taaza Khabar: I approached this character with a lot of respect

Shriya Pilgaonkar has proven her acting skills with back-to-back hits like Guilty Minds and The Broken News. In her new series Taaza Khabar, she is now prepared to surprise the audience. In Taaza Khabar, Shriya will play a sex worker named Madhu. The audiences responded well to her earlier roles as Sweety in Mirzapur, Kashaf in Guilty Minds, and Radha in The Broken News.

Talking about her role, Shriya Pilgaonkar said, "I've been blessed to have the chance to play so many amazing, powerful, and motivating women. I'm delighted I had the opportunity to play a sassy sex worker with so many distinct shades because no actor wants to be limited to a stereotype. Madhu is a firecracker and I love the fact that she still has a sense of humour about life despite the challenging conditions in a brothel. She is also quite sassy. She is still pursuing her goals. We've seen some excellent representations of sex workers in our movies in the past, and what I love about my character Madhu is that she hasn't let her existence as a sex worker define her."

The actress further reveal details about her preparation for the character by saying, "I read a lot of interviews to simply get a sense of what brings these ladies to the brothels and how they deal with that existence. The fact that these women have still managed to muster up the courage and hope for a better life is what most amazed me. They really are fighters. I had to draw on Madhu's resilience and courage. Despite the absence of love in her own life, she has so much to give. She is a strong, confident lady who has mastered the art of finding fun even in the most trying situations, and that is what truly distinguishes her."

Taaza Khabar, a Hotstar Specials series, is a drama, action, comedy, and romance roller coaster. The show is a contemporary story that exposes the advantages and disadvantages of miracles. The series, which was produced by Rohit Raj and Bhuvan Bam under the name BB Ki Vines Productions, will premiere on Disney+ Hotstar on January 6, 2023. It is directed by Himank Gaur and written by Hussain & Abbas Dalal.
