Exclusive! Sohini Sarkar and Saurav Das in Sayantan Ghosal's next

Sohini Sarkar plays the lead in Sayantan Ghosal’s Sampurna – a Hoichoi web series that was lauded by critics and viewers alike. The show that what released last year has been renewed by the platform for a second season. Along with Sohini, the show also features Rajnandini Paul, Arijita Mukhopadhyay, and others. The second season was announced at Hoichoi’s slate announcement in September 2022.

However, before the second season of Sampurna, Sayantan, and Sohini collaborated on another Hoichoi series. The web series will also feature Montu Pilot-fame Sourav Das. While there has been no confirmation from the platform, the actress, along with others, has been shooting in North Bengal. According to sources close to the unit, it is a thriller. However, it does not have a specific detective.  

Besides this, Sohini will also be seen as Satyabati in Srijit Mukherji’s Byomkesh. Based on Durgo Rawhoshyo, Srijit’s show will feature Anirban Bhattacharya as Byomkesh. Srijit is currently busy with his adaptation of Sherlock Holmes. After that, he will start working on Hoichoi’s ninth season of Byomkesh. According to sources, Ridhima will not return as Satyabati. The director intends to change Ajit as well. In the eighth season, Bhashwar Chatterjee will play the character. Based on Byomkesh O Chiriyakhana, the eighth season, named Byomkesh O Pinjrapole, will be dropped this summer. While it is directed by Sudipto Roy, Anirban was the creator of the show. 

Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay’s Byomkesh Baksi thrillers seem to be a hit formula for the makers. Earlier, Srijit was scheduled to make Durgo Rowhoshyo with the right owner, Shadow Films. However, Dev teamed up with the production house and declared to be the new Byomkesh on the block. 

Saurav will be seen in Abar Bibaho Obhijaan which will be released in June.
