Exclusive! Sonamoni, Pratik, Priyanka and Debasish in Mainak Bhaumik’s next

Exactly 12 years after their Bedroom, director Mainak Bhaumik and producer Rana Sarkar are back together with their new film, Behaya. Billed as a continuation of Bedroom, the film will feature Priyanka Sarkar, Debasish Mondal and popular television couple Sohamoni Saha and Pratik Sen. Mainak is currently penning the script and hoping to go on the floors in another month or so. 

Talking about the film, Mainak said that he cannot reveal much about the story but he assured us that it is very different from his recent family dramas, including Ekannoborti and Chini. “All I can say is that Behaya is going to be a dark drama about urban couples. With this film, we will enter into a dark space. In some way, it is a philosophical continuation of Bedroom,” said the director. 

Talking about choosing his cast, Mainak said, “I wanted to work with Pratik and Sonamoni independently. Finally, they are working together. I will be working with Priyanka after Bornoporichoy. We also have Debasish of Mandaar fame in a pivotal role,” he said. 

Meanwhile, Rana is excited about the new collaboration. “Mainak has a special way of dealing with relationship dramas on screen. He also has a very clear understanding and access to the emotional space of modern urban youngsters. I believe it is going to work wonders. We have television’s popular couple Pratik and Sonamoni. Besides being popular, they are powerful actors. Priyanka will team up with Mainak after a few years. Meanwhile, Debasish is a brilliant actor and we would like to explore his skills," said the producer. 

Sonamoni is currently working on Leena Gangopadhyay and Saibal Banerjee’s mega serial Ekka Dokka and Pratik is working on Saheber Chithi. Mainak’s 2012 film Bedroom has a casting coup with Abir Chatterjee, Rudranil Ghosh, Ushashie Chakraborty, Parno Mittra, Paoli, Rahul Banerjee, Tnusree Chakraborty and others.
