Be it helping the migrants going back to their respective villages, providing the required medical facilities to the underprivileged, airlifting the needy and helpless, providing temporary housing, facilitating surgeries and medical procedures, providing scholarships to financially challenged students, supplying oxygen cylinders to hospitals to providing meals to an entire village… the list is practically endless. There is hardly anything left for this messiah that he has not done to bring back the smiles on the faces of the people who were hit by the pandemic. In lieu of his philanthropic efforts, Sonu Sood received the ‘SDG Special Humanitarian Action Award ‘from the United Nations Development Programme.
Now, even though the pandemic is over and everyone has got back with their routine lives, Sonu Sood still continues to lend a helping hand to the needy. As ‘one of the steps’ in that direction, the ‘Dabangg’ actor is now all set to hold a charity lunch in Hyderabad on April 23. Speaking exclusively to OTTplay, Sonu Sood said, “Even though the pandemic is over and life for many has returned back to normalcy, my NGO ‘Sood Charity Foundation’ would like to live and practice our mission statement, which is ‘Transform destitute lives by empowering them with the necessities to lead a healthy and productive life’. That’s why, we have now thought of organising a charity lunch on a national level. To begin with, we are kickstarting this event in the city of Hyderabad, which is also known as ‘The City of Pearls’.
When asked to elaborate more about the event, Sood said, “The event will see me interacting with our donors over lunch. Additionally, I will also be speaking about my philanthropic journey since the Covid times. Besides that, there will be an introduction to the various initiatives which are being carried on by ‘Sood Charity Foundation’ and also our future plans of which everyone can be a part of and support. There will also be a painting exhibition by one of the extremely renowned painter Vipul Mirajkar. All the proceeds from the sale of these will go towards charitable initiatives carried out by ‘Sood Charity Foundation’. Every single rupee donated or sponsored will go towards helping the needy. That’s what I would like to call as a ‘Sonu Sood promise’. The event will also be streamed live on various social media platforms. I would urge everyone to step forward and help ‘Sood Charity Foundation’ in our noble cause.
On the professional front, Sonu Sood is busy shooting for his upcoming ‘cyber-thriller’ ‘Fateh’. Recently, Sonu had spoken about the film. He had said, “The film is rooted in reality, and inspired by real-life incidents that I saw happen to people even during the lockdown”. The film’s female lead actress Jacqueline Fernandez said, “Ever since the first reading of the script, I had decided that I want to be a part of this. Now, as we start shooting for ‘Fateh’, I am excited for us to bring forth a story that people will really enjoy." On the other hand, while speaking about the film’s hero Sonu Sood and the film, Shariq Patel (CBO- ZEE Studios) said, “Sonu is one of the most respected personalities in the country and our intent with ‘Fateh’ is to tell a story which connects with masses and possibly have a real-world impact – much like Sonu himself.”
