While it’s been almost two years since Jeem Boom Bhaa director Rahul Ramachandran announced his film with Suresh Gopi in the lead, the movie is yet to go on floors. Quelling rumours that the film has been put on the backburner, the superstar himself shared the second look of the movie, announcing that it will hit theatres on March 2023.
In an exclusive chat with OTTplay, the movie’s director Rahul, who has been working on the film for the past three years, says that it will go on floors on December 2022, after Suresh Gopi finishes three more projects including the big-budget movie Ottakkomban.
Earlier, Rahul had revealed that Suresh Gopi will be seen in two get-ups in the movie, which is a drama-thriller. “The second look is from the flashback portions that are set in Vada (North) Chennai,” he says. “We have also embedded certain details about the film’s setting and timeline in the poster. If you see the calendar, it shows January 1989 and the glass has the name Ayodhakuppam, which is the name of the place in Vada Chennai that had the most number of gangsters. We have tried to include a lot of detailing.
Some of the crates placed behind Suresh Gopi’s character also bear the symbol of a scorpion, which was seen in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s movies Kaithi and most recently in Vikram. “It’s actually the symbol used by the Mexican mafia while smuggling cocaine,” says the director.
Rahul says that Suresh Gopi has confirmed that the movie will go on floors by the end of this year and it was also the actor’s decision to release the film on March 2023. Meanwhile, the actor’s next release will be Joshiy’s crime drama Paappan. He also has Jibu Jacob’s Mei Hoom Moosa, which is set to hit theatres on September 30.
