Exclusive! Swastika Dutta: I am ready to be back on Television again

Swastika Dutta has just completed shooting Aritra Mukhopadhyay’s Fatafati along with Ritabhari Chakraborty and Abir Chatterjee. Now, the actor is looking forward to working in TV again. Swastika shot to prominence with Dugga Dugga on Star Jalsha. Later, she worked successfully on Bhojo Gobindo in Star Jalsha and Ki Kore Bolbo Tomay on Zee Bangla. Ki Kore Bolbo Tomay ended in August last year.

In a candid chat with OTTPlay, Swastika said, “My last TV serial, Ki Kore Bolbo Tomay in Zee Bangla, ended in August last year. In these nine months, I worked on three OTT projects and one film. I took my much-needed break from television and now I want to get back to TV. I have already spoken with Zee Bangla and Star Jalsha officials and categorically told them that I am willing to work. Strangely, there have been rumours that I gave up television. That’s a lie. I never gave up on TV. I just explored other platforms as an actress. These days, it is not a problem to work in films or OTT, alongside TV. So many artistes do it simultaneously.”

While Swastika's Dugga Dugga and Bhojo Gobindo are available on Disney+ Hotstar, Ki Kore Bolbo Tomay is available on Zee5.

The actress has no inhibitions about the television content. “Many people say that TV serials are bad and sloppy. I beg to differ. I liked the serials I worked in. I worked in comedy, love stories and drama, and they are good,” Swastika said.

The actress has recently completed shooting Fatafati and she thinks that was a challenging character for her to play. “In the film, I play a character of a top model. On the big screen, I wanted to portray a challenging character. I have given 100% to this character. For this character, I had to lose weight. I changed myself physically for this film. And for the first time in my decade-long career, my audience will see me in a layered and shaded character. I am very excited, not only for the character that I am playing but also for the film. I am glad that I could work with Windows Production,” Swastika said.
