Bollywood and Telugu star Tamannaah Bhatia’s upcoming Malayalam debut Bandra will reportedly have her in a stellar role, as per sources from the movie, which has Dileep, Dino Morea and R Sarathkumar in the lead roles.

The film, which is directed by Arun Gopy and scripted by Udaykrishna, marks the Baahubali actress’ Malayalam debut and is touted to be an action-entertainer. The team had revealed the first look poster of Tamannaah’s character from the movie on her birthday on Dec 21.

The poster had her looking resplendent in a yellow ghagra choli. While the team has not revealed much about her character other than that she will be speaking in Hindi for most of the film, OTTPlay has exclusively learnt from a source from the film that Tamannaah’s character in Bandra is based on a real-life actress. When asked if she is playing a Bollywood actress in the movie, the source, however, refused to divulge more, saying that more details will be revealed closer to the film’s release.

The team of Bandra had released its title as well as a first look of Dileep’s character on the actor’s birthday in October. Arun, who had previously worked with Dileep in Ramaleela, had earlier told us “This is an action-oriented entertainer, but it’s the emotional aspect of the story that drives the movie. It’s made on a big canvas and has a decent budget.”

The movie, which is set to hit theatres in 2023, has several locations across India including Junagadh, Rajkot, Ahmedabad, Udaipur, Jaipur, Agra and Mumbai, with the shoot spanning over 100 days. The team had begun its principal photography in October.

The cast of the film is also diverse, with actors such as VTV Ganesh, Easwari Rao, Amit Tiwari, Lena, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Siddique and Aryann Santosh essaying pivotal characters. Dileep, meanwhile, has also completed the shoot of Voice of Sathyanathan, which also stars Anupam Kher, Joju George and Veena Nandakumar.
