Telugu audiences will finally get to witness the regional adaptation of the popular Israeli show Beauty and The Baker. Annapurna Productions was handed over the reins to produce the Telugu version of the Hebrew series for the international streaming platform Viu, announced almost two years ago. However, Viu exited the Indian market in a year and one wondered if the Telugu show, which completed its shoot by then, would ever see the light of the day. Now, it's official that Telugu-only OTT platform aha has acquired Beauty and The Baker's Telugu version for an undisclosed price and will stream it in the coming weeks.

The Telugu show, also titled Beauty and the Baker, directed by Jonathan Edwards, has an intriguing lead cast comprising a bunch of newcomers and experienced names like Santosh Shoban, Sangeeth Shoban (the actor's brother), Tina Shilparaj, Jhansi, Srikanth Iyengar and Venkat. Maheshwar Reddy Gojalala is its showrunner. The original version of the show revolved around two opposites, a baker and an international superstar, whose destines unexpectedly collide on a night. Sparks fly between the two but their contrasting lifestyles soon threaten to derail their relationship. From moving past their exes to handling their different socio-economic backgrounds, will their relationship survive the test of time?

Assi Azar is credited as the creator of the original that was a major success in Israel. The timing of the acquisition couldn't have gotten any better for aha, especially when Santosh Shoban is coasting in Tollywood, with several biggies like Maruthi's Manchi Rojulocchayi and the Nandini Reddy-directorial Anni Manchi Sakunamule. aha plans to kickstart the show's promotional campaign in the coming week. The OTT platform will stream another remake (of the Hindi OTT show Flames) Tharagathi Gathi Daati from August 20. It also premiered the Telugu version of Manju Warrier's techno-horror thriller Chathur Mukham this weekend.
