A source close to the team sheds light on the development of the project
The mystery surrounding Kiccha Sudeep's next film, Kiccha 46, is slowly unravelling. Having kept the developments under wraps for a long time, the 51-year-old actor recently divulged that he is currently associated with three different projects and that the preparations for each of them were already underway. A few days later, he would announce that the promo video for the first of the three projects is set to be out on June 1, adding that he would participate in the shoot for that video on May 22. Fans and industry trackers were trying to eavesdrop on his movements to see which filmmaker he was hanging out with so as to solidify one of the many speculations that were doing the rounds. Would it be Nanda Kishore? Or his Vikrant Rona director Anup Bhandari who will be directing Kiccha 46?
And it now looks like these presumptions and guesses have finally been put to rest. Very recently, revered Tamil producer Kalaippuli S. Thanu of 'V Creations' emphatically announced that he will be producing Sudeep's next and soon after, a popular news agency revealed that the project would be helmed by debutant Vijay Karthikeyan. The entire Kiccha 46 puzzle seems well spread out for us now, with the upcoming promo video on June 1 expected to confirm it all.
Where does this leave Kiccha Sudeep's much-awaited reunion with Anup Bhandari? Well, the last time Anup spoke to OTTplay, he divulged that he was waiting for the superstar to wrap up his existing commitments so that their collaboration could be announced along with its title. Although the filmmaker refrained from confirming that the project in question, indeed, is Billa Ranga Baasha, he has left enough hints along the trail to help us make our deductions. Regardless, one still awaits the announcement and it would seem that the wait is going to get longer considering the scale of the project that the duo is putting together.
OTTplay recently reported that Billa Ranga Baashaa would be a two-part film which, in all likelihood, will have the mighty Telugu production house Mythri Movie Makers as one of its backers. That's the ongoing buzz but we are waiting for a formal word on this.
As far as the Anup Bhandari project is concerned, a source very close to the development confirms that fans would have to wait a bit more for the official announcement. "It is for certain that the June 1 announcement won't be about the Sudeep-Anup Bhandari project because the team is currently spending a lot of time on pre-production and is leaving no stone unturned. Also, the team is yet to formally announce that the film in question is Billa Ranga Baashaa so, we will have to wait for the title to be unveiled as well. Considering the prep work involved, it will be at least a month until things are confirmed," says the source.
Well, Sudeep's Kannada fans have expressed a bigger interest in the Anup Bhandari film but Sudeep's immediate attention will be offered to the Kalaippuli S. Thanu film, which is potentially bilingual. Sudeep is also rumoured to be working with filmmakers Nanda Kishore, Venkat Prabhu and Cheran but all that seems for a later time.
