Young director duo Alok Batra and Prince Dhiman couldn't be more thrilled that their first directorial venture, Hunter - Tootega Nahi, Todega, starring Suniel Shetty is getting a lot of love from audiences. The duo shared with us their challenging and learning experience during the shooting of the web series.
Alok told OTTplay, "I think the biggest challenge was to be loyal to the project and stick to the vision and the core story while directing a star like Suniel sir. We had to deliver whatever we projected about the character when we were narrating the script to Suniel sir. We are fairly new, but when sir said yes to our project it meant that he liked the story. So, it was our responsibility to deliver accordingly."
However, the duo mentioned that the most challenging part was improvisation and last-minute changes during the shoot.
Prince added, "Sir (Suniel) was very supportive even when we were making some changes. At times, whatever we wrote on paper had to be changed a bit during the shoot. It was a challenge for us to respectfully tell sir to do something differently, since we didn't want him, a superstar, to feel disrespected. But sir was always open to suggestions and he would tell us that we could make whatever changes we needed to for the betterment of the story. Sir was quite understanding and that was a hue advantage for us."
When asked about what made them include classic Hindi film songs in the show, Prince said, "That suggestion came from Suniel sir. We used songs according to the situation; we actually re-created them, almost like background music, to add another layer to the story."
Set in Mumbai, the story of Hunter - Tootega Nahi, Todega revolves around the mysterious death of a woman and how a police officer turns into a murderer.
The series also stars Esha Deol, Rahul Dev, and Smita Jaykar, and is available to stream on Amazon miniTV.
