Award-winning filmmaker Dr Biju is gearing up for his biggest film yet – Adrishya Jalakangal, which has Tovino Thomas, Nimisha Sajayan and Indrans in the lead. The team revealed the first look poster of the film through social media on Tuesday, announcing its cast as well as hinting at its content.
Talking exclusively to OTTplay, Dr Biju says, “It’s an anti-war film and is a surrealistic movie. That’s what we want to reveal right now. We have been busy with the set work for a month now and this will continue for another two months.”
The filmmaker tells us that it will be his biggest project yet. “The movie is made on a huge budget. It’s made on a budget that such films haven’t been mounted before. We are also planning an international opening for the film,” informs the filmmaker.
Ellanar Films, Mythri Movie Makers and Tovino Thomas Productions are backing the film, which is expected to go on floors by July end. “Kannur is the main location and we will also be shooting in Kasaragod. There will be sets in both these places,” Dr Biju says.
The director’s previous films include the National Award-winning movies Valiya Chirakulla Pakshikal, Perariyathavar and Veettilekkulla Vazhi. His most recent film was The Portraits.
Tovino and Nimisha last worked together in Madhupal’s Oru Kuprasidha Payyan. Adirshya Jalakangal will mark Tovino’s third production venture after Kala and Sanal Kumar Sasidharan’s Vazhakku, which is yet to release. The actor, meanwhile, has two upcoming theatrical releases – Dear Friend and Vaashi.
Dear Friend, which is helmed by Vineeth Kumar, also has Basil Joseph, Darshana Rajendran, Arjun Radhakrishnan and Sanchana Natarajan. The film is set to hit theatres on June 10. He will be following it up with Vishnu G Raghav’s Vaashi, which will release on June 17. Tovino and Keerthy Suresh play lawyers in the movie.
