Exclusive! Tripling S3 actor Sumeet Vyas: The connotation around divorce and separation needs to change

Actor-writer Sumeet Vyas who is one of the protagonists of the sibling tale series Tripling, which is coming with its third season, explained how the taboo around divorce and separation should be changed and not be looked at as 'negative' especially when it happens to our parents' generation who lived with each other for decades before calling it off.

The show Tripling is centered around three siblings - Chandan, Chanchal and Chitwan played by Sumeet, Maanvi Gagroo and Amol Parashar respectively.

In the new season, it shows how their parents played by Shernaz Patel and Kumud Mishra decided to separate from the marriage and how their three children who are now grown-up adults handle the whole situation emotionally.

Sumeet told OTTplay, "The word divorce is so heavy, comes along with so much negative connotation than a positive one. I think we need to change that, that perspective and I will tell you how. In the show for instance, in our show, the parents have decided to separate and go their own way. The idea of marriage is two people willingly coming to stay together because that makes them happier than when they were single. They come together and share life. If they reach a point that does not make them happy then they must part ways than dragging it and making it bitter."

He further added, " I think once they separate amicably, only then they can look at each other respectfully and cherish everything they loved. But usually, what happens in such a situation, is grown-up kids start reacting to their parents' separation oddly because they believe they have control over their parents' lives; instead of supporting them to explore their new lives. Kids always have the expectation from parents to solve their problems and are never prepared to solve and support their parents' emotional problems, especially the ones like marriage and separation."

"I think that is unfair and through the show, we are trying to take a step towards bringing that conversation on the table and take a progressive step towards amicable separation," pointed out Sumeet.  

The upcoming Tripling Season 3 is directed by Neeraj Udhwani, and also features - Shernaz Patel, Kumud Mishra, and Kunaal Roy Kapur alongside Sumeet Vyas, Amol Parashar and Maanvi Gagroo.

The show releases on ZEE5 on October 21.
