Exclusive! Tu Zakhm Hai's Gashmeer Mahajani: The only rule I set for TV shows is...

Actor Gashmeer Mahajani, who is the protagonist of the web series Tu Zakhm Hai, says that as a performing artist, he does not differentiate between mediums.

In the web series, he plays Viraj Trehan, who runs an illegal business. He goes on to hold Kavya (played by Donal Bisht) hostage, and what follows sets the basic storyline of the show.

Even though he has acted in several Hindi and Marathi films, Gashmeer became popular with the television series Anjaan: Special Crimes Unit, followed by Imlie, Tere Ishq Mein Ghayal, and reality TV shows Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 10, and Bigg Boss 16.

Shifting gears from TV to web series, Gashmeer spoke about the importance of expanding and exploring different mediums of content, without looking at any medium in a derogatory manner. 

Gashmeer told OTTplay, "I do not differentiate between mediums when I act. I perform with the same intensity as an actor between 'action' and 'cut'. So, even when I do a TV show, I tell the director, 'Please don't tell me that TV par hum aise hi karte hai, aur aisa hi chalta hai...'. I think that as performers, actors should approach a character without thinking too much about which medium the show will be released on, because at the end of the day, that is not in the actor's hands. It is up to the producer."

However, the actor mentioned that he has a rule when signing television series.

"The only rule that I set for TV shows is that I won't work on more than 100 episodes. I feel emotionally drained after playing a character for 100 episodes. Of course, I understand that the channel and production house want to earn money and a successful show with a huge fanbase cannot go off-air quickly. But I will want to leave a daily soap after 100 episodes," the actor shared.
