Since the trailer launch of director Arif Khan’s upcoming thriller film U-Turn on ZEE5, lead actors Alaya F and Priyanshu Painyuli have been trying to start a conversation about the importance of following traffic rules and also throw light on the consequences for common people when these rules are not obeyed. In an exclusive chat with OTTplay recently, the actors spoke more about the same.
“I think when it comes to civic rules, more than the government, it is on people to follow it. For instance, when we do the Juhu Beach Cleaning Programme, the result does not come overnight but with consistency. We all suffer in a city like Mumbai on the road because of not following the traffic rules. When we travel abroad, we keep praising the traffic system there and curse motorists in India for the way they drive their vehicle here. The fact is, we do not follow our traffic rules as religiously as we should and that is the root cause of the problem. People are dying on the road only because traffic rules are not followed. We have to change it because we are part of the system. Road rage also affects our mental health,” said Priyanshu.
Adding to that, Alaya said, “Yes, I agree. There are rules, especially if we talk about traffic rules, they are there to save people’s lives. Taking them lightly is like risking not only your own life but also putting others in danger. Traffic rules are there to make sure everyone travels safely and efficiently.”
According to the actress, even though their film has a lot more to look forward to for the audience, the central theme of the story is how a simple U-turn can change someone’s life on the road. “Of course, without being preachy, our film is quite an entertaining and gripping thriller, while it also leaves you with that thought. I hope our film becomes a conversation starter and addresses the bigger issue,” Aalaya elaborated.
Releasing on April 28, U-Turn also features Rajesh Sharma, Manu Rishi Chadha and Ashim Gulati, among others.
