Exclusive! Uunchai: Neena Gupta and Sarika's special appeal to the audience before its release

Two National award-winning actresses - Sarika and Neena Gupta, who are playing pivotal parts in the upcoming multi-starrer film Uunchai - made an appeal to the audience before the release of the film in the theatre.

The story of the film revolves around three friends in their 60s who decide to attempt the most difficult trek of their lives as they planned to go to Mount Everest base camp in memory of their best friend Bhupen who passes away with an unfulfilled dream.

The film has been shot extensively in various parts of Nepal, and the Himalayan mountain range.

In an exclusive conversation, Neena told OTTplay, " Before our film Uunchai releases, I would like to appeal to all our audience and fans that this is a film that must be watched in the theatre. I will tell you why it is a visual experience really. It has that visual spectacle that one should experience on a big screen. We went to Nepal and Everest base camp and saw the beauty unfolding before our eyes. We captured that in the film. Unless you go to the theatre to watch it, you will not understand the visual experience we have in offering..."

Adding to that, Sarika said, " I think if you watch it on your phone's screen, it will look like a small beautiful postcard. We are saying that what we have experienced is a huge canvas. We were physically there, and the beauty of nature was so surreal. One has to go to watch the beautiful Himalayan mountain range on a big screen."

Neena then quipped, " Waise bhi, ticket to abhi 150 rupees hai, thoda mehnat karke go to the theatre, I am sure the audience will have a fulfilling experience of watching such visuals from the Himalaya (laugh)."

In the recent past, the Bollywood film industry faced a major dearth of footfall in the theatre that affected the box office collection and one of the reasons being many people prefer to wait for a film to be released on OTT platforms after its theatrical release.

Perhaps it is time for all cinema lovers to step out, and encourage the makers to release films in the theatre by watching a film in the movie theatre.

The film Uunchai is directed and produced by Sooraj Barjatya, under the banner Rajsri Productions, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Parineeti Chopra, Danny Denzonpa along with Sarika and Neena Gupta - all set to release theatrically on November 11.
