M.G. Srinivas' Ghost has been in the news of late for many exciting reasons. On the one hand, the film boasts an enterprising premise that promises to feature the Century Star Shiva Rajkumar in a never-before-seen avatar. The 60-year-old, who headlines a heist thriller for the very first time in his 37-year-long acting career, will also become the very first Kannada actor to undergo digital de-aging, a process that has been effectively used in many Hollywood and Indian films like The Irishman, Gemini Man and Laal Singh Chaddha.

On the other hand, Ghost has hit the headlines for the super exciting central cast that M.G. Srinivas, or Srini, is putting together. Having roped in the very popular Malayalam actor Jayaram and well-known Hindi actor Prashanth Narayanan for two crucial roles in the film, Srini got heads to turn by casting the mighty Anupam Kher for another key part in Ghost. And if this wasn't enough, reports began to emerge stating that the much sought-after Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi, too, will be part of the cast.

According to the same reports, the Farzi actor has been approached by team Ghost but things are yet to materialize. OTTplay spoke to M.G. Srinivas about the same and the writer-director shares, "It is true that we have approached Vijay Sethupathi sir but it's too early to share any update on this. He has liked the part and is very much keen on coming on board but one has to see other factors through before making any formal announcements".

What role does Vijay Sethupathi play in the film? "Well, that's not something I can give away but I can tell you this much: he is likely to feature in a cameo role in Ghost and his part will lead into the second instalment of the series that is currently in development. And that character will play an important role in the future instalments - we should be able to comment more on this once his participation becomes confirmed," adds Srini.

Not very long ago, Srini shared a snippet from his screenplay which teases the union of his Birbal and Ghost worlds. His fans and followers were immediately smitten by the idea and termed it 'SCU' or 'Srini Cinematic Universe' and even encouraged to push the boundaries as far as creative conception is concerned. With Shiva Rajkumar and many other noted stalwarts now part of this universe, one can't help but be excited about the prospects.

And what about The Vaccine War actor Anupam Kher? With his presence in the film already confirmed, can M.G. Srinivas shed some light on the role he plays in the grand scheme of things?

"Again, I wish I could share something but it's all too early and I don't want to kill the excitement. Of course, every detail concerning these characters is very important and I want to keep everything under wraps until the right time," he says, adding that Kher will join the sets of Ghost in March.
