Actor Vikrant Massey's next assignment is as a host of a crime show called Crimes Aaj Kal. Speaking about the show, the actor opened up to us about how social media has a flip side which is responsible for steering the youth towards crime.
The concept of the show revolves around how teenagers unknowingly indulge in crime and become victims of image building, scams, misleading relationships, and more.
Considering that actors are some of the most influential people when it comes to promoting consumerism targetted at the youth, we asked Vikrant what bis take on the matter is.
Vikrant said, "I think that perception building and extensive use of social media has a negative impact on people. It is a complex matter, but let's face it; we are all living in an era of extreme consumerism: be it through online shopping or buying things that are not needed, but helps build an image. It is true that celebrities also do this, but we know where to draw the line. It is when youngsters indulge in perception building on social media without realising the negative side of it."
"These days, youngsters are trying to build an image of who they are not, whether it is by using filters on social media, or online shopping and many other ways. It seems like a lot of people are not comfortable with who they are. So, I genuinely believe that in the era of so much information, we really need to cut out the elements that don't work for us and make a constant effort to find a balance between the virtual and real world," added the A Death In The Gunj actor.
