Four years after teaming up for Aravindante Athidithikal, Vineeth Sreenivasan and father Sreenivasan will be sharing screen space again in debutant director Jayalal Divakaran’s film titled Kurukkan.

The movie, which has Vineeth and Shine Tom Chacko in lead roles, also has Aju Varghese as part of the cast. Scripted by Manoj Ramsingh, who had written Minnaminungu that earned Surabhi Lakshmi the National Award for Best Actress, Kurukkan is produced by Maha Subair.

The producer tells OTTplay, “The plan right now is to begin shooting by Chingam 1 in August. We are in the final stage of casting and the pre-production work is on.” Ask him about the genre of the film and Subair says, “It’s too early to reveal those details.”

Vineeth, who had directed Pranav Mohanlal and Kalyani Priyadarshan-starrer Hridayam, is currently acting in editor Abhinav Sundar Nayak’s debut directorial, Mukundan Unni Associates. He plays a barrister, whose actions are contrary to Vineeth’s real-life good-boy image, the director had said in an interview.

Sreenivasan will next be seen in a full-length role in Rahul Riji Nair’s Keedam, which has Rajisha Vijayan in the lead. The veteran actor plays the father of Rajisha’s character, who is a cybersecurity professional in the movie, which has completed shooting. The movie also has Vijay Babu as part of the cast. Sreenivasan is also part of Sathyan Anthikad’s Makal, which has Jayaram and Meera Jasmine in the lead. The movie is set to release in theatres on April 28.

Meanwhile, Shine Tom Chacko, who has been part of superhits such as Kurup and Bheeshma Parvam lately, will next be seen in Kamal KM’s socio-political neo-noir thriller Pada. The film, starring Kunchacko Boban, Dileesh Pothan, Vinayakan and Joju George, is based on the true incident in 1996 when a group of Ayyankali Pada members held the Palakkad district collector hostage for 10 hours.
