Actor and director Vineeth Kumar has much to look forward to this year. While he is currently busy with the post-production of his second directorial, which has Tovino Thomas, Basil Joseph and Darshana Rajendran in the lead, he is also gearing up for the release of Simon Daniel.
In an exclusive chat with OTTplay, Vineeth tells us, “I play the hero in the movie. We had shot the film during the pandemic. Currently, the mixing of the film is progressing and we are hoping to release it by May this year.”
The film, directed by Sajan Antony, also had Vineeth serving as a creative director. Divya Pillai, who debuted in the industry through Vineeth’s first directorial Ayal Njanalla starring Fahadh Faasil, plays the female protagonist in Simon Daniel.
In an earlier interview, the actress said that she had to train for her stunt sequences in the movie as it was a film that had her in action scenes as well. Divya had learnt boxing as well as some fight training for her role in the movie, which was shot in Neliampathy, Kerala.
Meanwhile, Vineeth is currently busy with the post-production of his mystery-drama, which revolves around a group of friends based in Bengaluru. The actor says that it has Tovino delivering his “career-best performance” and the team was fortunate to get some of the best and exciting young talents such as Darshana, Basil, Arjun Radhakrishnan and Sanchana Natarajan to be part of the film, scripted by actor Arjunlal, Suhas and Sharfu.
“We are currently busy with its music and will start with the final phase of post-production next month. By mid April, we are hoping to be done with the post-production work and we will take a call on the release platform of the film after that,” says the director.
