When KGF: Chapter 1 released in 2018, the Prashant Neel-directorial, which had Rocking Star Yash in the lead, became a massive hit. At the time, although Yash was a big star in Sandalwood, KGF: Chapter 1 was going to be his first pan-India release. The team, of course, went out of its way to promote the film in the actor’s new markets, with Yash taking great pains to introduce him and his film to the world.

According to reports KGF: Chapter 1, amassed an estimated Rs 250 crore at the box office, but most importantly, raised Yash’s value as a star across the country, so much so that conservative projections for the second instalment of the film are more than the first one’s lifetime collections. Today, even though KGF: Chapter 2 faces competition from Vijay’s Beast in south India and Shahid Kapoor’s Jersey in the Hindi belt, there is no denying that Yash’s film is seen as the overwhelming favourite at the box office.

Such is the craze surrounding the franchise, Yash, his character Rocky, El Dorado and the tale of Narachi at KGF that the makers of the film, Hombale Films, are looking at giving audiences another chance to relive part 1 on the big screen. “#KGFChapter1 will play in select screens from April8-13 across the country at subsidised rates. Go relive Rocky bhai entering Narachi and gear up to watch what he does next,” tweeted Karthik Gowda, executive producer at Hombale Films, who is also the founder of KRG Studios, a production and distribution company.

As of now, the April 8 week does not have any confirmed Kannada film releases, after the six-film April 1 week. Puneeth Rajkumar’s last film, James is still going strong in the centres it has retained, so, KGF: Chapter 1 should have no trouble in securing enough screens in the Karnataka region, at least. Responding to Karthik’s tweet, fans had requested the team to re-release KGF: Chapter 1 in the northern and Telugu belt as well, but as of now, details on the languages and extent of re-run are not available.
