Bhooth Bangla, starring Akshay Kumar and directed by Priyadarshan, is one of the highly-anticipated films of 2026. The horror comedy has been garnering a lot of attention ever since it was announced, along with some posters. However, a recent report claimed that Bhooth Bangla was originally Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 but T-Series has clarified that there is no connection between the two films.
Was Bhooth Bangla really written for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2?
Industry sources told India Today that Bhool Bhulaiyaa remains a “prized asset” for T-Series, warning that any direct or indirect exploitation of the brand, name, or universe would be met with stringent legal action.
As per the portal, Shiv Chanana, co-producer, T-Series, addressed the rumours and said that they have never received any script from Mr Priyadarshan or his team for making a Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise.
Chanana dismissed claims that an old draft of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 was repurposed, asserting that both Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 were conceived as original stories, which have no narrative connection to the other or to any previously written script.
“It is our franchise. If anything has to be developed, it will be developed by us and under our supervision, which is exactly how Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 were made. I don’t understand where these stories are coming from, this was never the case," Chanana added.
