Netflix’s upcoming Malayalam anthology based on MT Vasudevan Nair’s short stories has a host of stars including Mohanlal, Mammootty, Asif Ali and Biju Menon. But an OTT anthology in Malayalam won’t be complete without Fahadh Faasil. OTTplay has learnt that the actor will be teaming up with Malik and C U Soon filmmaker Mahesh Narayanan for a segment in the anthology.
This would mark the fourth time Mahesh is directing Fahadh, after Take Off, C U Soon and Malik. Mahesh was also the scriptwriter and cinematographer for Malayankunju, which Fahadh’s father Fazil is producing.
The team has still not confirmed when the shoot of the segment will begin with Fahadh busy with Vikram. Mahesh too is set to start the shoot of Kunchacko Boban-starrer Ariyippu in Ernakulam soon.
The Netflix anthology will reportedly have 10 segments of 30-40 minutes each. MT Vasudevan Nair had insisted that the directors of each segment be those who haven’t worked with his scripts earlier.
As of now, seven segments have been confirmed including the Fahadh-starrer. Priyadarshan has two features – based on Shilalikhitangal and Olavum Theeravum – with Biju Menon and Mohanlal in the leads, respectively. Asif Ali and Madhoo are the protagonists in Aswathy Vasudevan Nair’s segment based on Vilpana while Indrans, Renji Panicker, Kailash and Nedumudi Venu are part of Jayaraj’s featurette based on Swargam Thurakunna Samayam.
Lijo Jose Pellissery is also set to direct Mammootty for a segment based on MT Vasudevan Nair’s memoir titled Kadugannawa Oru Yathra. Indrajith, Ann Augustine and Aparna Balamurali will begin shooting for Rathish Ambat’s short film titled Kadalkaattu. Another featurette that has Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead is also in the works.
