Kannada filmmaker Pawan Kumar, best known for Lucia and U-Turn, has a release on June 23. This time, though, the film is a Malayalam original that will be dubbed and released in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi as well. The film, Dhoomam, sees Pawan collaborate with Malayalam actors Fahadh Faasil, Roshan Mathew, Vineeth, Aparna Balamurali, etc., and is KGF and Kantara makers Hombale Films’ first Mollywood production.

Most actors he approached had apprehensions and if at all he managed to convince someone, he could not get the right backing.

The banner was aware that Pawan had other scripts waiting in the wings and was also keen to collaborate with Fahadh and when he showed interest in this script, which was initially christened C10H14N2 (the chemical formula of nicotine), Dhoomam came to be.
