A jury member had revealed to Manorama Online that Fahadh’s performance was much-discussed by the members of the committee, which was headed by Vipul Shah. However, what went against the actor was his make-up in the movie with a few members objecting to rule in his favour.
Fahadh had played the character of Sulaiman from the age of 20 to 57 in the film, which spanned from the 1960s to 2018. The actor’s performance in essaying the role of a coastal leader was lauded when the movie had released last year.
The Best Actor was shared by Suriya for his performance in Sudha Kongara’s Soorarai Pottru and Ajay Devgn for his role in Om Raut’s Tanhaji. This is Suriya’s first National Award win while Ajay has been adjudged the Best Actor thrice now.
