Those who were impressed by director Mahesh Narayanan and Fahadh Faasil’s quarantine thriller C U Soon should gear up to see how well the duo pull off a big-budget period film with Malik. The political thriller will release this month on Amazon Prime Video.
The official announcement of the film’s release date was made on Thursday by the streamer, by unveiling its new poster on social media handles. The movie, which was initially set to release in theatres in April 2020, will drop on the streaming service on July 15.
In a statement by the streaming service, the film’s director Mahesh said, “Malik is a story rooted in the Indian ethos with multiple nuances in its character as well as the emotions they portray, and I hope it resonates with the expectations of the audience.”
Malik has Fahadh playing various phases of his character Sulaiman’s life from the ages of 20 to 55. The film, which is the most expensive project in the Malayalam star’s career, was shot in Thiruvananthapuram, Kanyakumari, Lakshadweep and Kochi, where massive sets were erected to film the period portions of the movie that spans from the 1960s to the present era.
Apart from Fahadh, Malik also has Joju George, Nimisha Sajayan, Vinay Forrt, Jalaja, Salim Kumar and Indrans. Malik marks Fahadh’s fourth consecutive direct-to-OTT release after C U Soon, Irul and Joji. Malik will be the second Malayalam release on Amazon Prime Video this month with Anna Ben and Sunny Wayne’s Sara’s scheduled for July 5.
