The makers of Family have confirmed that the Malayalam film will hit the big screen a day earlier than its said theatrical release date. The movie was earlier reported to be released in theatres across the state on February 23. Vinay Forrt is playing the lead role in this film.

The decision by the Film Exhibitors United Organisation of Kerala to temporarily stop the release of Malayalam films in theatres beginning this Friday (February 23) has expedited the film's release.

Family will open in theatres alongside the eagerly awaited Manjummel Boys, a Chidambaram-directed movie starring Soubin Shahir and Sreenath Bhasi. Several other highly anticipated 2024 films, such as Bramayugam by Mammootty and Anweshippin Kandethum by Tovino Thomas, are currently playing well in theatres. Premalu, the romantic comedy by Girish AD, is likewise getting positive reviews in the interim.

FEUOK’s decision to cease the release of Malayalam films

The decision is in response to the producers' refusal to agree to the theatre owners' association's demands. Furthermore, they have not been able to work with the FEUOK to resolve the agreement violations over the films' OTT release.

All about Family

Family, directed by Don Palathara, stars Mathew Thomas, Divya Prabha, Abhija Sivakala, and Nilja K Baby in supporting roles. Under the auspices of Newton Cinema, Sanita and Anto Chittilappilly produced the film. Jaleel Badusha oversaw the camera work for this movie. The director, in collaboration with Sherin Chatherine, wrote the screenplay for Family. Renowned director Anurag Kashyap released the movie's trailer earlier this month. The movie's cast also posted it with the hashtag "Is blood always thicker than water?" on their social media pages.

The main character of the movie is Sony, a Catholic from rural central Kerala in his late twenties who exudes a sense of altruism. However, there is a different side to him than what everyone sees. His family members are silenced by the system, which aggressively and purposefully protects men and their secrets, even as they become aware of his actions. The purpose of the movie is to show how the family system functions in relation to internal crimes.
