It's a shame that Aamir Khan and Kajol, two of Hindi cinema's most talented actors, have only worked together once, in Fanaa (2006). With Kajol's upcoming film, Salaam Venky, directed by Revathy, that could change soon. Khan is rumoured to have been enlisted for a cameo role in the film.
A source told Mid Day that for the cameo, Revathy wanted a big actor, and Aamir was her first choice. He easily agreed to join the team after hearing the tale.
After 16 years after Kunal Kohli's romantic drama, the superstar and Kajol will reunite in this film. Khan's crew is finalising the dates because the actor will only be on set for a few days.
The source added that the superstar will start working on Laal Singh Chaddha's promotions next month. He plans to film his parts before the city tours start.
Salaam Venky, based on a true story, went on floors in February.
Meanwhile, Fanaa recently completed 16 years since its release. During a recent interaction with Bollywood Hungama, the director, Kunal Kohli, revealed how Khan came on board for the film.
He said that it was a process. It wasn't like he woke up one day and signed both. Getting Aamir Khan was a challenge. The star was confident of the premise, but he was unsure of how Kohli would direct it, given that he had just completed two light romance films, Hum Tum (2004) and Mujhse Dosti Karoge (2002). Meanwhile, Fanaa was darker and more dramatic. The filmmaker advised Khan to only proceed if he was completely convinced.
He added that he couldn't make a film looking over his shoulder and thinking, "Aamir khush hai ya nahin?" The actor later assured him, though, that he was completely satisfied with his abilities and that they should proceed.
And Kohli revealed that it was Aamir who suggested Kajol's name for the female lead in Fanaa.
