The film, also featuring Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhat Bhatt in the lead roles, was announced in 2021.
Jee Le Zaraa is one of the most-awaited films and was announced in 2021. The film marks the return of Farhan Akhtar to the director's chair after more than a decade. The film features Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Katrina Kaif, and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles and is based on these girls going on a road trip across the country.
All three of them have assured fans that the film is happening, and they are only waiting for the actors to have their dates aligned. Now, during a recent interaction, Farhan also broke his silence on the progress of the film.
The multihyphenated actor-filmmaker told Variety, "We just have issues with dates, and the actor’s strike that’s happened has put Priyanka’s dates into a huge tizzy with what can happen and what can’t, so I’ve started genuinely believing that that film now has a destiny of its own. It’ll happen when it has to; we’ll see."
Meanwhile, Zoya Akhtar, who is co-producing Jee Le Zaraa, had earlier told India Today, "We're just waiting for the dates," as she confirmed that the project has definitely not been shelved.
There were reports making the rounds that Priyanka had bowed out of the project. However, Reema Kagti confirmed that the film will happen with the same cast.
A couple of weeks ago, Farhan revealed that he would kickstart the work on Jee Le Zaraa after Don 3. The filmmaker said in an interview, "So, my focus is currently on Don 3, and Jee Le Zaraa will be picked up after that. I'm also doing two films next year before we get into Don 3. In January, I will start a film that is being produced by Aamir Khan Productions. It's being directed by RS Prasanna, who directed Shubh Mangal Saavdhan. He's a great director. Then I will do another film for Excel Entertainment, which will start roughly in June or July. And then I get into directing Don 3."
Jee Le Zaraa would mark the leading actors, Priyanka, Katrina, and Alia, coming together for the first time.
