Fateh out on OTT: Here's where you can stream Sonu Sood's directorial debut

After being among the early theatrical releases of 2025, Sonu Sood's directorial debut, Fateh, has made it to OTT. Two months after its theatrical run, the action thriller is now streaming on JioHotstar. Sood also co-wrote the film, which also stars Naseeruddin Shah, Jacqueline Fernandez, Vijay Raaz, and Dibyendu Bhattacharya, which was co-produced by Ajay Dhama and Shakti Sagar Productions and Zee Studios.

Fateh: Plot summary

The story follows Fateh, a former agent who leaves his peaceful life to expose the cyber mafia organisation after a local girl goes missing with the goal of bringing down the entire syndicate. An ex-special operations soldier named Fateh Singh has a tranquil existence as a superintendent of dairy farms in Punjab. That is, until a young girl named Nimrit Kaur from a nearby village falls victim to a cybercrime ring run by two men named Raza and Satya Prakash. In order to save Nimrit and bring down the cybercrime syndicate, Fateh teams up with ethical hacker Khushi Sharma.

On January 10, 2025, Fateh hit theatres, and critics were divided. At the end of its theatrical run, the film was expected to have made between ₹14.2 and 18.2 crore globally.

Sonu Sood on writing and directing Fateh

Earlier, while talking about working on Fateh, Sood had told PTI that after a year and a half of work, they finally finished it. In his own experience, he has written screenplays and scripts for a number of films. However, he will first and foremost claim credit for this.

The importance of getting the word out about cybercrime has hit him. Therefore, he embarked on composing a narrative, confident that his role as a director would adequately convey his vision for the film.

Sood has vividly depicted events that actually occurred in most of the scenarios. In terms of creativity, it's a fantastic chance for him to convey the story in the manner he sees fit. Since it is his story, the film is meant to connect with the average person and give them power.

Challenges of multitasking as a filmmaker

As the film's producer, Sood acknowledges that managing four roles was a challenging task. The actor-filmmaker has been a part of the film industry for nearly 25 years, having made his debut in 1999. He has worked with a wide variety of filmmakers and performers on about a hundred films in a variety of languages, and he thinks it has been an amazing experience.

Originally trained as an engineer, he gained insight into the inner workings of filmmaking lenses from his time spent working in the sound and camera departments. Being an engineer has given him a distinct advantage in understanding the trade. The filmmakers' intentions were clear to him and he is skilled at telling stories through the camera when he is directing a film.
