Fatima Sana Shaikh revealed that she found doing a scene from her recent Netflix film Ajeeb Daastaans that required her to seduce Armaan Rehlan's character "uncomfortable".
The actress plays the role of Lipakshi, a woman who gets into an extra-marital affair to add spice in her loveless marriage in the anthology. In an interview with Mid-Day, the actress shared that she never related to the character, since her parents never pressured her into dating somebody or lead life a certain way.
One particular scene sees Lipakshi seduce Armaan Rehlan’s character, while her husband (Jaideep Ahlawat) is aware of what's happening.
Shaikh said she found the whole experience "uncomfortable". Stating that she is bold as a person even in real life, the Dangal actress said, “I have never been comfortable with using my sexuality openly as I have been a tomboy all my life.”
Claiming that she has also been a "hopeless lover", the actress said that she could understand the psyche of the character.
Being a victim of social media bullying, the actress explained how the society judges both men and women. She said that while people feel women are "too forward" or "too modern", men are asked to never show real emotions. Both these character traits have been inhibited in Ajeeb Daastaans, she added.
Directed by Kayoze Irani, Neeraj Ghaywan and Shashank Khaitan, Ajeeb Daastaans also stars Nushrratt Bharuccha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Manav Kaul, Shefali Shah, Konkona Sen Sharma, Tota Roy Chowdhury and Abhishek Banerjee.
