Popular Pakistani actor Fawad Khan is all set to join the cast of Marvel Cinematic Universe's upcoming Disney Plus web series, Ms Marvel, as per reports. Recent reports doing the rounds suggest that Fawad will be joining Bollywood actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar who had been roped in for the Disney Plus show earlier.
The speculations began doing rounds after a tweet by BBC's senior Pakistani entertainment journalist Haroon Rashid. In his tweet, he also revealed that apart from Fawad and Farhan, Pakistani actors Samina Ahmed and Nimra Bucha will also play a part in the superhero series. He further clarified that these speculations are based on Fawad Khan being featured in the cast on IMDb's official page for Ms Marvel. Marvel Studios is yet to confirm the news.
Haroon tweeted, “Wow! Fawad Khan set to appear in Ms Marvel – the Disney+ series about Marvel’s first titular Muslim character. He’s listed on the show’s official IMDB page. Farhan Akhtar, Nimra Bucha and Samina Ahmad are reportedly part of the cast too. Marvel yet to comment. Amazing if true!”
Ms Marvel is reported to be Marvel's first Muslim woman superhero which will be played by Iman Vellani. She will take on the role of Kamala Khan, a Pakistani-American teen based in New Jersey with shapeshifting abilities discovers her inhuman ability to extend her limbs, alter her appearance, and shift her shape and size and takes responsibility from her idol Captain Marvel to works towards making the world a better place.
Reportedly, Pakistani filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy will be working on the project alongside Meera Menon, Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah in directing the series. The production for the miniseries is set to take place in Thailand, Atlanta, Georgia and New Jersey. The series is slated for a Disney+ debut in late 2021.
