It's impossible that one has not scrolled through TikTok, or Instagram, or even caught sight of music videos on YouTube related to K-pop. The genre has grown in popularity over the last few years and with new groups making their debuts, it has only been evolving while embracing fresh styles and trends.

However, amidst this evolution, classics from decades ago continue to remain beloved by fans. With 2024 having begun, it also marked the 10th anniversary of numerous iconic K-Pop tracks. So let's celebrate these timeless songs.

Red Velvet's 'Happiness'

Their debut single, released on August 4, 2014, by the group's agency SM Entertainment, displayed a distinctive fusion of pop and hip-hop elements as it fell in the Euro-pop genre. It introduced the four members: Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, and Joy to the public.

BTS' 'Boy In Luv'

Released on February 11, 2014, by the group's agency Big Hit Entertainment, this powerful track, which blended aggressive rap with a catchy chorus, played a pivotal role in establishing BTS' rise to fame. The song by Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook was part of the album 'Skool Luv Affair'

Girls' Generation's 'Mr.Mr.'

Released on February 24, 2014, under their agency SM Entertainment, this fusion of electronic pop and R&B became known for its catchy tunes and synchronized dance moves. The girls, Taeyeon, Sunny, Tiffany, Hyoyeon, Yuri, Sooyoung, Yoona, and Seohyun - received positive reviews from music critics for this song.

Orange Caramel's 'Catallena'

Released on March 12, 2014, under the agencies of Pledis Entertainment and Kakao M, this song from the group 'After School's' sub-group is known for its quirky and whimsical concepts. The song by Nana, Raina, and Lizzy mixed contemporary pop with Italo disco and hi-NRG styles as well as a sample of a Punjabi folk song "Jutti Meri".

Released on May 7, 2014, under the label SM Entertainment, this song exemplifies Xiumin, Suho, Lay, Baekhyun, Chen, Chanyeol, D.O., Kai and Sehun's powerful performance style and solidifies the group's status as one of K-Pop's leading groups. It was also the final song by members Kris and Luhan following their lawsuits in May 2014, and October 2014 respectively. 

f(x)'s 'Red Light'

Released on July 7, 2014, under the agency SM Entertainment, this dark, electronic-pop track surely left a mark. The group consisting of Victoria, Amber, Luna, Krystal and previously Sulli until her departure were known for their experimental music style which stood out for their unique sound.

Taeyang's 'Eyes, Nose, Lips'

Released on June 3, 2014, under the agency YG Entertainment, this song by singer Taeyang from the group BigBang showcased his powerful vocals and remains one of K-Pop's most beloved love songs. It was the second single for his 2nd studio album 'Rise'. The song went on to become the 2nd best-performing single of 2014.

Girls' Generation – TTS's 'Holler'

Released on September 16, 2014, under SM Entertainment, the subunit from the group Girls' Generation called TTS (Taeyeon, Tiffany, and Seohyun) blended their strong vocals with a vibrant, upbeat sound. This song peaked at No. 6 on Billboard's World Digital Song Chart.

Super Junior's 'Mamacita'

Released on September 1, 2014, this playful and energetic track highlights the group's charm and charisma of Leeteuk, Heechul, Yesung, Shindong, Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Donghae, Siwon, Ryeowook and Kyuhyun before, Han Geng departed in 2011. The Korean version was released through SM Entertainment while the Japanese version was released by Avex Trax.

GD X Taeyang's 'Good Boy'

Released on November 21, 2014, by YG Entertainment, this collaboration between G-Dragon and Taeyang from the group BigBang is an electrifying dance track with an infectious beat. The song had become a chart-topper on Billboard's World Digital Songs chart. The MV was also featured as a YouTube Music Moment for the 2015 YouTube Music Awards.

Released on August 26, 2013, under JYP Entertainment, this song is a captivating dance track accompanied by a dramatic and sensual performance. The song went on to get included in Sunmi's debut EP 'Full Moon' which was released six months later.

Apink's 'Mr. Chu'

Released on March 31, 2014, under A Cube Entertainment in Korea and Universal Music in Japan, this sweet melody and charming concept perfectly represent their innocent and girly style. The members, Park Cho-rong, Yoon Bo-mi, Jeong Eun-ji, Kim Nam-joo and Oh Ha-young before Hong Yoo-kyung left in 2013, saw the song peak at No. 2 on the Billboard K-pop Hot 100.

Hyuna's 'Red'

Released on July 28, 2014, under Cube Entertainment, this bold, high-energy track showcases her confident and seductive style. The song is from her third extended play, 'A Talk' and saw Rolling Stone name it No. 5 on their year-end list of the Top 10 MV of 2014.
