Feludar Goyendagiri: Srijit Mukherji’s series is Hoichoi’s most watched show ever

Srijit Mukherji’s Feludar Goyendagiri has become the most watched series ever on Hoichoi so far with record number of views. Based on Satyajit Ray’s Darjeeling Jawmjawmat, the first season features Tota Roy Choudhury as Feluda, Anirban Chakrabarti as Jatayu and Kalpan Mitra and Topshe. Ever since its launch, the show received mixed to positive reviews from the critics.

Evidently, Srijit is excited with the report. “I don’t think there is anything more satisfying than having your audiences love your work. Feludar Goyendagiri: Darjeeling Jawmjawmat is like a dream project for me. Considering my own love for Feluda and how possessive every Bengali is about him, the pressure to deliver was through the roof! I am glad and grateful that my audiences not only loved it, but also led it to become the platform’s highest viewed series ever during its launch weekend. I’m a little short on words, but not on motivation to say the least. I am hoping that the audience will continue showering their love.”

Meanwhile, Hoichoi team has said in a media statement that the success is not exactly surprising for them. Soumya Mukherjee, COO of the streaming platform, said, “Feluda is an emotion. Hence, this record-breaking viewing of the show is not surprising to us. We knew that Feluda’s story is the one that will draw every Bengali’s eyeball, across the globe. More so, because of talented people like Srijit Mukherji and Tota Roy Choudhury. This is one of our most celebrated shows and we are glad that we could bring nostalgia to them.”

Feludar Goyendagiri was dropped on June 17 and it also features Rahul Banerjee, Barun chanda, Suprobhat Das and others. Darjeeling Jawmjawmat is Srijit’s third tryst with Feluda after Chhinnamastar Abhishap and Jawto Kando Kathmandute. While the first is currently streaming on Addatimes, the second one is yet to be released.
