It's been over a week since Fighter hit the big screen. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the film stars Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, and Anil Kapoor in pivotal roles. Although the movie performed extremely well within four days, it witnessed a major drop in the collection from day 5 at the box office. The aerial actioner, which was struggling to mint Rs 150 crore at the BO, has now achieved the milestone. After nine days of Fighter's theatrical run, the Siddharth Anand directorial raced past the Rs 150 crore mark.
According to early estimates by Sacnilk, Siddharth Anand's Fighter minted approximately Rs 5.35 crore at the box office. And with that, the total box office collection of the film now stands at Rs 151.85 crore. The Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone starrer earned in double digits till day four of its theatrical run. However, Fighter has been earning in single digits for the last few days.
While Fighter may not have performed extremely well in India, the film is moving at a good pace in the international market. After 7 days at the ticket window, the Siddharth Anand directorial achieved a milestone by crossing the Rs 250 crore mark.
Meanwhile, in an interview with Galatta Plus, Siddharth Anand was asked about Fighter not getting the expected opening day one figure. To this, the filmmaker reasoned that '90% of Indians' have not flown in planes and haven't been to the airport. "So how do you expect them to know what's happening in the air?," he told the publication.
After he made the aforementioned statement, Siddharth has been at the receiving end of criticism on social media. Netizens have refused to buy Siddharth's logic behind the lukewarm response to Fighter.
