Fighter director Siddharth Anand reveals why Deepika Padukone is absent during promotions, says ‘we can’t do...’

Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone is currently making headlines after she reportedly missed the film promotions for Siddharth Anand’s upcoming action flick Fighter. The filmmaker has now addressed the rumors and misconceptions as he revealed the true reason why the female protagonist is missing out on the promotions and even was absent from the trailer launch. Starring Hrithik Roshan, and Anil Kapoor in lead roles, Fighter is gearing up for its theatrical release and the entire cast is busy juggling up professional front and personal lives.

The highly anticipated film Fighter attracted rumors about a rift between the director Siddharth Anand and the lead actress after she was not present at the promotional events and speculations also suggested that Padukone had unfollowed Anand on social media. However, the seasoned filmmaker has quashed reports of an ongoing rift between the two.

In a recent conversation, Siddharth Anand dismissed all the previous speculations and revealed that Deepika will be attending all the promotional events from now on. He also informed that the Pathaan actress had to miss the trailer launch because of her ill health but she will make up for the lost time in the upcoming promotional events with the team.

Ahead of the film’s release on January 25, the filmmaker spoke to Bollywood Hungama and shared that they are following a new promotional strategy that requires the extensive participation of Deepika Padukone from Tuesday onwards.

“This is a promotional strategy that we have taken. You will start seeing Deepika Padukone from Tuesday everywhere. People put a lot of conjectures into things,” he said.

Clarifying the bad air about DP’s trailer launch rumors this month, he added, “Deepika was supposed to come for the trailer launch, but she was under the weather. And now she is going to be everywhere; our strategy is such.”

Describing the key strategy in detail, the Pathaan-fame director revealed that Deepika and Hrithik are the main highlights and he wanted to keep the fire of the fresh casting ignited so that fans are eager to watch them on the big screens.

“Obviously, we can’t do without Deepika... Deepika and Hrithik’s pair is one of the major highlights," Anand further added. The film marks the third collaboration between Deepika Padukone and Siddharth Anand after Bachna Ae Haseeno and Pathaan.
